Installation Guide

Read this document if you are planning to install MSP Center Plus in a production environment. It provides the steps involved in installing and setting up the platform.

Pre-requisite
To proceed further you should have a valid mspcenterplus.exe file downloaded from http://www.mspcenterplus.com/ . If you dont posses one, please download now. We also expect you to have the following info ready before installing.

  1. Name of customers that you plan to manage with this system.
  2. Key contacts in those customer organizations.
  3. Account managers for each customer and their email addresses.
  4. Proxy server details (if any) of your customers.
  5. Network ip addresses of each customer.
  6. List of devices to be monitored /managed in each organization.
  7. A valid license for MSP Center Plus.

Hardware and Software Requirements


Ports/Firewall settings For Central and Probe
    • Refer the page for the default ports occupied by the Central/Probe software. Check whether the ports are free in your machine,else we can change the port numbers to any of the available free ports in your machine

    • If your Central/Probe machine is behind a firewall refer the page for the
      firewall configurations to allow inbound/outbound port access

Step:1 - Installing MSP Center Plus
Double click the .exe and follow the instructions on screen. Refer the screenshots in the presentation below for assistance.

Step:2 - Important things you need to do post installation
Connect to the server URL via internet, preferably from a different machine than the server, and check if you are able to see the user interface without any problem. Then follow the steps below

  1. Configure mail server settings for network monitoring
  2. Configure mail server settings for helpdesk (for fetching mails)
  3. Configure proxy server settings (for MSP Center Plus to contact AdvnetNet patch repository)
  4. Synchronize MSP Center Plus patch database with AdventNet patch repository (for new patches)

Configuring mail server settings for Network Monitoring

  • Go to Network Monitoring->Admin->Mail Server Settings
  • Enter mail server ip address, username, and password
  • Enter the reply-to email address (all notifications will be sent with this as the reply-to id)
  • Send a test mail to confirm that

Configuring mail server settings in helpdesk

  • Go to Helpdesk and Service Automation -> Admin-> Mail Server Settings-> Outgoing Server. Enter the details as you did in remote monitoring
  • Click on Incoming Server. Here, enter the mail server name, INCOMING EMAIL ID, username and password.
  • Mail sent to the INCOMING EMAIL ID will be automatically parsed and converted into tickets.
  • Click on start fetching to trigger MSPCenterPlus to start looking for new emails.

Configuring proxy server settings

  • Go to Desktop Management-> Admin-> Proxy. Enter the proxy details or choose direct connection to internet.

Synchronizing the patch databases  

  • Go to Desktop Management-> Admin-> Patch-> Schedule Vulnerability Update.
  • Choose a time for update and schedule it daily

Congrats. Your MSPCenterPlus setup is now ready to add customers. Go to MSPCenterPlus home page and start adding customers. Lets assume that your MSPCenterPlus is accessible via a subdomain such as https://mspcenter.finenet.com/ .

Step:3 - Add customers to MSP Center Plus
From the MSP Center Plus home page click on Add Customer link to add a customer.

  The agents can be installed on Windows 2003,  XP professional edition, and 2000 machines.

Download Agent
From the MSP Center Plus dashboard, click on Add icon under Agents. The agent Desktop Central Agent.msi is downloaded. Copy this agent onto the desktops which needs to be managed.

Install the Agent
On the desktops where you have copied the DesktopCentralAgent.msi, execute the file to install the agent. Check the following screenshots for reference.
